The area is situated within an active seismic plate, but being in deep water at sea is the safest place to be. Our crew is trained and we do have a procedure in case of an event.What are the chances to get Malaria?
On the boat, the chances are minimum although Malaria is present in Sumatra and the Mentawai Islands. Mosquitoes do not fly the distance to where the boat anchor, although the risk exist and we recommend you discuss with your Doctor the option of take an anti-malarial pill. Also avoiding visit to land between dusk and dawn reduce the chances.Is there any kind of communication on board?
Yes, we do have a satellite phone on the boats for an emergency use only, if you really want to use for any other reason will be charged a part. Also, some areas of the Mentawai Islands has mobile signal. Some of the surf resorts and surfcamp have internet access and you can go there and use with extra cost.What’s the plan if I injure myself surfing?
Mentawai Surf Charters crew is trained and will assist you with the first aid. If necessary, we can stitch you up on board and you can stay on the board until the return. Yes you do, but you do not need to get the visa in advance, once you arrive in Indonesia you get a 30 day Visa before you clear Immigration and Customs.
