On Monday 28 December, a new national Surat Edaran No. 4/2020 was issued which effectively closes the borders for all international visitors from 1-14 January. Indonesian citizens and holders of KITAS/KITAP visas are exempt but must undergo 5 days of quarantine in Jakarta.
Travelers will be PCR tested again on arrival. With a negative result, Indonesians will undertake a quarantine for 5 days in a quarantine accommodation provided by the government while foreigners are obliged to undertake a quarantine for 5 days in a hotel that is designated by the government at their own cost.
After 5 days of quarantine a PCR test will be repeated, and if the result is negative both Indonesian and foreign travelers will be permitted to continue their journey.
